The famous Turkish actor, star of such hit TV series as Magnificent Century, Kara Sevda, and Kuruluş: Osman, came to Russia to take part in a series of concerts. The Turkish heartthrob was a special guest at the concert “Music from Turkish TV Series,” held on February 20 at Crocus City Hall in Moscow. The actor spoke about his experience of working on television series, shared fascinating stories from the filming of international blockbusters, and answered tricky questions from popular TV host Vyacheslav Makarov, well known to Russian audiences for his appearances on the television shows The Mask and The Avatar.
The instantly recognizable music from iconic Turkish series was accompanied by unique video footage featuring famous actors, including Burak Özçivit. The audience had the opportunity to meet the celebrated actor and enjoy their favorite music performed by the pop-symphony orchestra Full Sound Band under the direction of Evgeny Oleynikov.
The famous Turkish actor and model Burak Özçivit is one of the world’s most striking stars. His life and rise to international fame could itself be the plot of a fascinating TV series. Once an unknown student at Marmara University in Istanbul, within just a few years he became a global superstar. It all began with a modeling career. At his father’s suggestion, 19-year-old Özçivit entered the Best Model of Turkey competition, where he was recognized as a promising model and invited to join a modeling agency. Two years later, having gained experience, Burak entered the competition again and this time won it triumphantly. That same year, he competed in the Best Model of the World contest and once again made it to the podium, taking second place. After that, advertising contracts and offers from around the world began pouring in.
With each new project, Özçivit became increasingly popular with audiences, and directors could not pass up the opportunity to boost their ratings with his participation. Russian audiences first became acquainted with Özçivit through the series Magnificent Century, in which he played the charismatic Ottoman commander Malkoçoğlu Bali Bey. Özçivit reached the peak of his popularity when Kara Sevda was released. For several seasons, viewers followed the fate of the main characters as their love faced extraordinary challenges. The series received the prestigious International Emmy Award for Best Telenovela, was broadcast in 110 countries, and translated into 50 languages. It made Burak Özçivit an international star, both in Turkey and around the world.
During his meteoric career, Burak has received numerous awards for leading male roles around the world. In 2012, GQ magazine named him Man of the Year, and in 2017 he was recognized as the most talked-about actor. Leading international brands compete for the opportunity to feature Burak in their advertising campaigns. Today, Özçivit is a global star with millions of devoted fans.
At the “Music from Turkish TV Series” concert, the actor not only spoke about the filming of the series whose music was performed by the symphony orchestra, but also answered questions from popular TV host Vyacheslav Makarov. Showman and TV host, actor and musician, singer and star of Russia’s KVN comedy league, Makarov took the opportunity to ask Özçivit about his personal and professional life and share a laugh with the actor over some particularly amusing episodes.
