Following triumphs in London and Paris, opera diva Aida Garifullina will perform at the legendary Tchaikovsky Concert Hall

On June 26, the P. I. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall will open its doors for an event set to become one of the highlights of the musical season — the grand Summer Concert, bringing together outstanding artists of the contemporary classical music scene on one stage.

The enchanting Aida Garifullina, who has just captivated audiences as Gilda in Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House in London and is preparing to take on the role of Violetta Valéry in Simon Stone’s acclaimed production of La traviata in June–July this year, will perform in Moscow accompanied by the Orchestra of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre.

The orchestra will be conducted by renowned composer, winner of national and international competitions and Honored Artist of Russia Petr Dranga. The concert will also feature winners of international vocal competitions and artists of the Bolshoi Theatre’s Young Artists Opera Program, Kirill Sikora (tenor) and Bogdan Guenok (baritone). Together, the artists have prepared a virtuosic program featuring recognized masterpieces of classical music.

Aida’s pure tone, extraordinary artistry and deeply expressive acting have once again captivated European audiences this season. Following the premiere of Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House in London, leading British publications praised the opera diva. The Guardian noted that, thanks to her “soft, creamy soprano” and elegant phrasing, her rendition of Caro Nome became much more than a display of coloratura singing. The Telegraph praised her performance as “beautiful,” describing her Gilda as innocent yet utterly convincing in her passionate love for the unworthy Duke.

This summer, Aida was chosen to perform the leading role in Simon Stone’s production of La traviata at the Paris National Opera. Despite her international demand, Aida continues to perform in her native Russia, captivating audiences each time with her exceptional vocal artistry and extraordinary energy.

Honored Artist of Russia Petr Dranga is a virtuoso whose artistry has long transcended conventional genre boundaries. His performances combine energy, freedom and charisma, transforming every appearance on stage into a spectacular theatrical experience.

Petr graduated from the Sviatoslav Richter School, followed by the Gnessin College, Academy and postgraduate program. From 1999 to 2018, he pursued an active performing career. In 2022, he founded a symphony orchestra (DYP) and the ERA-8 Foundation for the Support of Contemporary Art, making it his mission to develop and revive large-scale musical forms, as well as theatrical, operatic and symphonic art in Russia.

The Orchestra of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre dates back to the 1920s, when the Stanislavsky Opera Theatre and the Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre began staging regular performances at the building on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street.

Over the years, the theatre’s orchestra has worked with such renowned conductors as Nikolai Golovanov, Vyacheslav Suk, Grigory Stolyarov, Samuil Samosud, Boris Khaykin, Kirill Kondrashin, Dmitri Kitayenko, Mikhail Yurovsky, Georgy Zhemchuzhin, Vladimir Kozhukhar, Yevgeny Kolobov, Gennady Provatorov and Wolf Gorelik.

In 2004, Felix Korobov became the theatre’s Chief Conductor. Guest conductors who have collaborated with the Music Theatre Orchestra include Alberto Zedda (Italy), Thomas Sanderling (Germany), Marc Minkowski (France), Plácido Domingo (Spain), Marco Armiliato (Italy), William Lacey (United Kingdom), Fabrice Bollon (France) and Alexander Lazarev (Russia).

The orchestra regularly takes part in the theatre’s tours across Russia and abroad and performs at leading philharmonic halls.
