KHIBLA GERZMAWA AND YAKOV OKUN’S JAZZ TRIO | MUSICAL LIVING ROOM

Khibla Gerzmava is a true prima donna of the opera stage. A People’s Artist of Russia and a People’s Artist of Abkhazia, she is now one of the most sought-after Russian singers on the international stage. Passionate about jazz, Khibla continues to explore and expand her artistic horizons within the genre.

Together with Yakov Okun’s Trio, the singer will present a program featuring outstanding works from the European classical tradition, reimagined in a jazz style. Famous opera arias, songs and romances by European and Russian composers will be carefully and virtuously adapted for the singer and jazz piano trio. The musical film will be available to watch for free on IVI starting November 13, as a highly anticipated continuation of the Gazprombank Musical Living Room project.

Full of drive and energy, the musical program of the film “Classical & Jazz” will allow the remarkable Khibla Gerzmava to demonstrate her extraordinary talent for artistic transformation. A stylish and charismatic performer, she is equally compelling in classical arias, jazz improvisations and traditional romances. The acclaimed opera diva captivates audiences not only with her impeccable technique and distinctive timbre, but also with her outstanding acting abilities and thoughtful interpretation of every character.

The film will also give viewers an opportunity to discover just how naturally the European classical tradition and the emerging American musical style can complement one another. All arrangements will be created by renowned jazz musician and pianist Yakov Okun.

The film will be recorded as part of the singer’s anniversary year, which began with a spectacular celebratory gala concert at the Kremlin Palace.

The film premiere will take place as part of the online Gazprombank Musical Living Room project — a series of online concerts featuring talented artists and internationally acclaimed stars, launched by Gazprombank in May 2020.

The project allows audiences to immerse themselves in an enchanting world of sound, hear beloved works in unexpected arrangements and experience the feeling of being the only spectator in the concert hall. No registration is required to watch concert recordings, and broadcasts are available on any device via IVI, one of Russia’s largest online cinemas.
