The Music of Love. Mozart. Dvořák. Wilson. Herbert

On March 13, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory hosted a concert entitled The Music of Love, performed by the Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva under the direction of Alexander Rudin. The evening’s programme featured works by Mozart, Dvořák, Wilson, and Herbert, united by the theme of love and romantic feeling.

Recently celebrating its 45th anniversary, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra Musica Viva is renowned for its distinctive artistic identity and its virtuoso performances of music spanning a wide range of styles and historical periods. Under the leadership of maestro Alexander Rudin, who has headed the ensemble since 1988, the orchestra has achieved an exceptional level of artistic excellence and established itself among Russia’s leading chamber ensembles. The musicians pay particular attention to the stylistic character of every work they perform, striving to convey the composer’s original intentions with the greatest possible precision.

This evening offered audiences an opportunity to experience masterpieces of Classical and Romantic music. Mozart’s works, filled with elegance and harmonic beauty, were paired with Dvořák’s passionate compositions, imbued with the distinctive spirit and temperament of his Slavic heritage.

Of particular interest were the rarely performed works of Wilson and Herbert, bringing a fresh dimension to the programme and revealing new facets of the theme of love in music.

Taking the conductor’s podium was People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Rudin, a versatile musician renowned for his profound understanding of the style of the works he performs and his ability to reveal unexpected dimensions in familiar music. His interpretations are distinguished by their exceptional depth, spirituality, and thoughtful approach to the musical material.
