New Year's Kaleidoscope
About the concert
On December 18, a festive concert dedicated to the musical legacy of the famous Strauss family took place in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. On the eve of the New Year, the audience enjoyed elegant masterpieces by the legendary dynasty performed by the musicians of the State Kremlin Orchestra. Sparkling quadrilles, colorful mazurkas, romantic waltzes, and enchanting overtures — the music of Johann Strauss Sr. and his equally celebrated son, Johann Strauss Jr., seems beautiful to everyone. The concert opened with the virtuosic and brightly sparkling, like diamonds, overture to the operetta «Die Fledermaus» by Johann Strauss Jr. The sensual melody, enchanting with its beauty, lyricism, lightness, and overflowing joy of life, has long become a symbol of New Year's night and the thrilling anticipation of the holiday. The concert also featured other works by the «Waltz King», Johann Strauss Jr., including his famous «Tales from the Vienna Woods» and «On the Beautiful Blue Danube». One of the most sought-after Russian conductors, Konstantin Chudovsky, took the conductor's podium.
