“New Year’s Concert. Mozart. Tchaikovsky”

About the concert

On December 20, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory will host a festive concert for the whole family. The E.F. Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra will perform classical masterpieces familiar to audiences since childhood.

Under the baton of renowned conductor Denis Vlasenko, the musicians will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, alongside works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky that have become synonymous with the New Year — suites from the ballets The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty.

The special Christmas atmosphere of the evening, the magic of a full symphony orchestra, and the lightness and enchantment of beloved melodies will create a festive pre-New Year mood for every member of the audience.

The E.F. Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra is one of Russia’s oldest symphony orchestras. In 2021, it celebrated its 85th anniversary. The orchestra has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues.

Its discography includes hundreds of vinyl records and CDs released by leading Russian and international record companies. A special place in this collection is occupied by the “Anthology of Russian Symphonic Music,” featuring recordings of works by Russian composers from Mikhail Glinka to Igor Stravinsky, conducted by Evgeny Svetlanov.

The orchestra’s concerts have been broadcast and recorded by Mezzo, Medici, Russia 1, and Kultura TV, as well as Orpheus Radio.

Since January 2022, Maestro Vlasenko has served as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Grand Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
