Maya. Suite of Love
About the concert
On November 19, marking the centenary of the great ballerina, the premiere of the musical ballet performance «Maya. Suite of Love» took place at the State Kremlin Palace. Theatrical director Igor Teplov and choreographer Victoria Litvinova brought together on one stage the finest Russian dancers of our time, renowned artists of the Bolshoi Theatre, as well as the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre for the ballet gala performance dedicated to the story of eternal love. Eleven outstanding ballerinas presented the brightest and most iconic images of the legendary ballerina, which became the calling card of Plisetskaya. The lively and flirtatious Kitri, the seductive and commanding Odilia, the passionate, headstrong Carmen and the tenderly vulnerable Karenina — in each of these roles, the artistry, emotionality, and technical mastery of the Russian ballerina were embodied differently, yet equally convincingly and brilliantly. However, the center of her Universe always remained her adoring husband, who dreamed of only one thing — to be with his Maya forever. The role of Rodion Shchedrin, performed by premier of the Bolshoi Theatre, Honored Artist of Russia Vladislav Lantratov, became the key to understanding the personality of the celebrated ballerina.
