The new project by renowned producer and artist Pavel Kaplevich is the spectacular choral symphony-performance Eugene Onegin: The Burnt Chapter!
The music was written by acclaimed composer Igor Raichelson, who is venturing into the realm of the hybrid operatic genre for the first time.
Eugene Onegin: The Burnt Chapter is an unconventional and inventive quintessence of fiction and reality, truth and myth, inspired by Alexander Pushkin’s celebrated novel in verse and its mysterious Tenth Chapter, shrouded in secrets and enigmas.
Guiding audiences into this semi-mystical world are People’s Artist of Russia, recipient of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, and one of the country’s finest readers and performers of literary texts, Alexander Filippenko (the Voice and Eye of the People), and renowned writer and journalist Mikhail Zygar, known for his professional work with historical material (the role of the Introduction to the opera).
The production features renowned opera singers who perform at the world’s leading theatres: Svetlana Kasyan (soprano), Ekaterina Lukash (mezzo-soprano), Mikhail Petrenko (bass), Alexey Isaev (baritone), and Ivan Gyngazov (tenor).
Igor Raichelson’s new music will be performed by musicians of the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia named after E.F. Svetlanov and the A.A. Yurlov State Academic Choral Capella of Russia.
The conductor is the incomparable Philipp Chizhevsky.
