Disney’s Fantasia

The concert film Fantasia offers a new interpretation of classical masterpieces performed by a symphony orchestra, accompanied by breathtaking animation created by renowned artists.

During the concert, audiences will see excerpts from the original 1940 classic as well as fragments from the later 2000 version.

The 1940 film Fantasia is a true gem of Disney animation and received two Academy Awards. From an artistic perspective, Fantasia is regarded as one of the greatest achievements in the history of animation. Walt Disney and his team of talented animators, working together with the Philadelphia Orchestra under the direction of Leopold Stokowski, set out to create music that could be seen and images that could be heard. Their work resulted in an entirely new and previously unknown form of animated art.

Fantasia 2000 features seven new segments alongside one segment from the original 1940 film, interwoven with a succession of musical excerpts. Like its predecessor, Fantasia 2000 was created using innovative techniques and cutting-edge animation technology of its time, making it possible to produce a series of extraordinary visual worlds.

These masterpieces will be performed by the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan under the direction of its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, People’s Artist of Russia and the Republic of Tatarstan Alexander Sladkovsky. The conductor will be Airat Kashaev.
