Carmina Burana on the stage of the Great Hall of the Conservatory

On October 18, in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, one of the most epic and captivating works of world classical music — Carl Orff’s stage cantata “Carmina Burana” — will be performed by the State Kremlin Orchestra and the choral capella. The majestic masterpiece by the German classic will also be performed by soloists David Sanikidze (tenor), Andrzej Beletsky (baritone), and Elizaveta Narsiya (soprano). Konstantin Chudovsky, one of the most sought‑after Russian conductors, will take the podium this evening.

The medieval Latin text, combined with the composer’s brilliant music, became a real bestseller, each time overwhelming the listener with its powerful and exceptional force. The primal magic of the recurring rhythms of the opening chorus “O Fortuna,” dedicated to the fickle will of the goddess of fate, is known even to the most uninitiated listener: the grandiose rumblings of the cantata’s first notes are widely used in world cinema and advertising, as well as during sports competitions and large‑scale spectacular shows.
